Labor Day eating, Michigan-style

Labor Day weekend at the MacKenzies' lake house in Michigan. Boating, swimming, drinking, bonfire-ing, and EATING.

We headed up Friday night and stopped for dinner and beers at Three Floyd's Brewery in Indiana.

Good beer, good food. We sampled a bunch; I'm not a huge beer drinker, but I like a good wheat beer, and their Gumball Head summer brew was very refreshing.

Murdo and I split a juicy burger:

Laurie ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, which was served on some awesome tomato-pesto-style bread.

And now on to the weekend feasting...

Saturday dinner was all the favorite summer-lovin' treats: hot dogs, brats, burgers, corn on the cob, veggies, chips, dip, pasta salad...

Summer food

I wanted a burger and a hot dog but knew I couldn't finish both, so I split them. I went back for the other half of the burger shortly after scarfing down my plate.

On Sunday morning I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of my breakfast, so I caught a picture of Murdo's before he dug in. Mine was basically the same, plus one fried egg and minus the extremely buttery toast.

Murdo's Sunday breakfast

Mmm...nothing like a big hearty breakfast before a day of boating and swimming. Sunday dinner we had shrimp, beef, cauliflower casserole, corn on the cob, salad, veggies...

Shrimp!

Sunday night dinner in Michigan

I'd say we bid the summer a proper farewell, but it will be missed. Goodbye potato salads, hot dogs on the grill, sweet corn on the cob, cold summer brews...hello homemade soups, stews, and bubbling casseroles...

Thanks to the MacKenzies and Bazans for another fun-filled, drink-filled, food-filled weekend on the lake.
